The history of ornamental trees is amazing, I've spent much of my spare time and holidays researching and visiting sites with traditionally shaped tree, and researching the techniques that people used to trim those trees originally. Of course these days with electric trimmers and computer planning programs we can come up with easy ways to trim trees and even more exotic and intricate patterns. It's exciting to be on the forefront of an industry with so much history, and to be adding my little section to that history.

3 Reasons to Keep Trees and Shrubbery Trimmed

If there are trees or shrubs near your home, they could end up causing a lot of damage that will cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars to repair. This doesn't mean that you need to get rid of your trees and shrubs. All you need to do is contact a specialist in tree services to come to your home and trim the branches back. There are several reasons to hire tree felling specialists to take care of your trees and shrubs, including the following.

Overhanging Branches

If there are branches that are hanging over your roof, they will eventually end up touching the roof and can cause extensive damage. If this problem is not taken care of, you could end up needing roof repairs, or even a replacement. You will need to have these branches trimmed back, which is a lot cheaper than roof repairs or replacement.

You should even have branches that aren't touching the roof trimmed back. Eventually, they will grow, and in the winter they could get weighted down with snow and ice and end up touching the roof.

Other Branch Issues

If there are any tree branches that are hanging above your eaves, they need to be trimmed back by someone who specialises in tree services. If they are not trimmed back, they can damage the eaves, and the leaves and smaller branches will eventually clog up the eaves. There should also be no tree branches scraping against your home, as it can damage paint and stain.

Shrubs

Just because a tree is too short for its branches to be touching the roof (shrubs, bushes, and small trees), it doesn't mean that it can't cause damage to your home. For instance, these plants are ideal places for squirrels, mice, and other critters to live, and then it's only a few steps for them to get inside your home.

Also, if there is shrubbery close to your home, it can make it difficult to do repairs to your foundation if they are ever needed. Another reason to keep trees and shrubs trimmed back is because they can get tall enough to block your windows. This keeps the sun from getting inside, and you will have to spend more money to heat your home in the winter. It is a good idea to keep all branches at least half a metre from the foundation walls, just to be on the safe side.
